Note: Have not successfully found Martin and Agnes Boyd in the NC census records. Believe this couple may have been from a nearby Virginia or North Carolina county. Discovered a Deed transaction whereby Alexander Boyd of Mecklenburg, VA sold land in Granville County, NC to Henry Fitts, Jr. in 1823. Within this transaction several slaves were sold with the land, one of the slaves was named Martin. I suspect this could be my Martin. {Discovery made thanks to the Clan Boyd website.}

2. MARTIN BOYD (MARTIN) was born Abt. 1851 in North Carolina, and died Bef. 1930. He married SALLIE D. BALTHROP November 12, 1870 in Warren County, North Carolina, daughter of DENNIS BALTHROP and ARY NICHOLSON. She was born Abt. 1853 in North Carolina, and died Aft. 1930 in Warren County, North Carolina.

Note: Successfully found Sallie in the 1930 census with daughter-in-law Eliza Powell-Boyd. Suspect Martin may have died prior to 1900 as I have not been able to find Martin or Sallie in the 1900, 1910, or 1920 NC census records. Nor have I been able to find their 4 youngest children. Sallie may have re-married.

Notes: 1920 DC census reflects a Walter P. Boyd age 46 from NC residing on 10th Street, NW. His wife Sarah and daughter Edna, who is 2, were also born in NC. Suspicious that this Walter is the son of Martin and Sallie Boyd as other family members also migrated to DC.

1920 Warren NC census reflects a Lizzie Boyd age 40 residing on Robinson Perry Road with daughters Mary age 19, and Sallie age 5. Lizzie is listed as single and head of household. In the home with Lizzie is a sister, Retta age 36. Suspicious that this Lizzie is the daughter of Martin and Sallie Boyd.

He married ELIZA POWELL May 13, 1892 in Warrenton, Warren County, North Carolina, daughter of ROBERT POWELL and ZILPHY PUTE/PEETE. She was born January 1875 in North Carolina and died Aft. 1930.
