Elizabeth BOYD, widow and relict of John Boyd, deceased, sells to Nancy
BOYD for 100 pounds, Negro man, DAVE. One chestnut sorrel colt. One
brown mare, one cow and three yearlings, One bed and furniture, four
iron pots, One Dutch oven. One iron skillet. Two pewter dishes, 10
plates, six basins, one frying pan; all plantation tools, all remaining
household and kitchen furniture.

Discharge Documents For A Buffalo Soldier.
Two partly-printed documents regarding the discharge of Wiley Boyd of Captain Lewis Johnson's Company A of the Twenty fourth Regiment of
Infantry, born in Erskine, in the State of Mississippi aged 27 years...
Black complexion...by occupation a Laborer...for Five years, who is now discharged by reason of Special Orders. This document measures 12.75
x 8.5. The second document measures 11 x 8.5 and is a voucher detailing the balance paid to Fuller upon his discharge, who adds his mark to the signature line. Both are Extremely Fine or better, although Form No.
5 has some varmint damage along one of the folds. (2 items)

1820 Kentucky Deed of Manumission For A Mulato Boy.
Thomas Mathers of Nicholas County County, Kentucky, signs a document on
September 5, 1820, that he does manumit and fully set free my Mulato Boy
called Henry Boyd...as soon as the said Mulato Henry Boyd will arrive at
the age of twenty five years which will be against the twelfth day of April
in the year one thousand eight hundred and twenty seven, retaining my full
power over the said Henry untill that time..." The document was witnessed
by three men, and the future manumission was recorded by the court on
November 27, 1820. Dark brown ink on tan paper, with minor ink smudges.

Registration of Slaves 1780 - Chester County,
PA
01 March 1780. All those owning slaves in Chester
County were required to register them. This registry was kept in the
office of the clerk of the court of Quarter Sessions in Chester county.
