House of Boyd Life Membership Money

They (Lauren & etc) have changed the HOB by-laws so they can spend the Life dues money on whatever they wish.

Originally the Life dues (amounting to more than $6000.00 ) was supposed to go into a separate account. Interest from the account is used to pay yearly membership dues for the Life Members. The money was not meant to be used and according to the By-laws was to be donated to a worthy charity if the society ever disbanded.

An ex-treasurer played right into their hands when he talked them into putting all the money in one account (illegally) a few years ago.  Now they have made it legal to spend that money.

The Section of the By-laws that states that "Life memberships are to be placed in escrow accounts" has been removed.

The By-laws now states that "all membership funds go into the general account".

I have the original By-laws signed by the late Dr. William G. Barneyback, former President of the original HOB, if anyone wants a copy.

I wonder when they were modified, and when or if it was even reported to the Life Members, membership at large, or even to the officers (who don't have the right to vote).  There hasn't been a newsletter published since 2002 so the membership at large does not know.
