Married 2nd Colonel John Swainston Hammond 17 Mar 1869 Divorced 1 Nov 1884.  Married 3rd, Nathaniel Rue High 7 Jan 1885.
 

Isabelle Boyd was born at Martinsburg, Virginia May 9, 1844.  Belle was named Isabelle after her great-aunt Isabella who married John Boyd,  brother to her grandfather,  Samuel Boyd. Her parents were  Benjamin Reed Boyd and  Mary Rebecca Glenn. Mary was descended  from  Captain  James Glenn  of  Frederick County,  Virginia  who  was born in 1764 and  died in 1832, a soldier of the Revolutionary War. (D.A.R)

 

Belle's father was  Samuel Boyd Jr. (1775-1819)*  who married Maria Reed Stephenson  in  1798.  Their  children were:  John William  Boyd,   James Stephenson Boyd,   Benjamin Reed Boyd, Isabella Boyd,  and  Anna Maria Boyd.  John W. married Rebecca Southwood,  James S.  married Elizabeth King Wilson, Isabella married William Compton, and Benjamin R. married Mary Rebecca Glenn, parents of Isabelle (Belle) Boyd.

 

John Boyd  (1776-1846),  brother  to  Belle's father, Samuel, married  Isabella  Stephenson  in  1803. Their children were: Benjamin  S.  Boyd,  Samuel  Beckett  Boyd,  James  Stephenson Boyd (married Iva McMullen) , William  S.  Boyd, and Sarah Boyd.   John and Isabella Boyd lived  in  Knoxville, Tennessee.  Benjamin S. married Cynthia Kerr Brooks, Samuel B. married Susan Howard Mason, William S. married Mary Kennedy. Belle married  three  times having children by two husbands. Her daughter Grace Hardinge was born in England 1865-66.  Her father was Samuel Wylde Hardinge. Belle had three children by her second  husband,  Col.  John  Swainston  Hammond;   Byrd Swainston  Hammond,  Marie  Isabelle  Boyd  Hammond, and John Edmund Swainston Hammond. Her third husband was Nathaniel Rue High.  They  had  no  issue.  Belle  died  June  11,  1900 in Kilbourn, (now Wisconsin Dells) Wisconsin.

 

* Samuel Boyd Jr. was the son of Samuel Boyd who married Mary Beckett in 1773. This Samuel was probably the son of  William Boyd (1700-1767) who was born in Northern Ireland and married Margaret________, and lived in Marsh Creek, Pennsylvania.

2. Byrd Swainston Hammond       b. 26 Feb 1874 d. 16 Dec 1932
m. 1st James F. Williams in 1891.  m 2nd  H.W. Mowery 1906.  One  child,  Nana  Ottilie  Williams  born  19 Mar 1897. Nana married William McCabe and  had two children: Nana Ottilie McCabe born 4 July 1930 and William Boyd McCabe born 16 June 1931.

3. Marie Isabelle Boyd Hammond  b. 31 Oct 1878 m. 1st Charles W. Chase 1903 and m. 2nd Adolph Michael 13 April 1913  no issue

4. John Edmund Swainston Hammond b. 30 Aug 1881 m. ________?  Two sons, John Edmond Hammond Jr. and Ned Boyd S. Hammond.
