Glendoune House

 

The mansion house of Glendoune is situated within half-a-mile inland of Girvan, and is surrounded by fine woods.  The estate comprises the lands of Piedmont, acquired by the present propietor, George Kirkpatrick Young, Esq., from Spencer Boyd, Esq., of Penkill, in 1845; and the lands of Doune, purchased from the Right Hon. T.F. Kennedy, of Danure in 1845.  An older building was taken down and Spencer Boyd built a new structure in 1800.  This is where Spencer Boyd lived while Penkill castle was being repaired.
