TRABBOCH CASTLE

The ruins of Trabboch Castle is located about 3.5 miles south of Mauchline in Ayrshire. Very little remains of a strong 14th century castle, which was defended by a ditch. Material from the castle was used to build Trabboch Mains. The property was given to the Boyds of Kilmarnock by Robert the Bruce but had passed to the Douglases by about 1450. The Boswells later acquired the lands.

Permission to Use Castle Information from The Castles of Scotland was granted by Martin Coventry and Goblinshead, Edinburgh, Scotland
