Revolutionary War Disability Affidavit

Pension # 43 1788
Soldier, 7th Virginia Regt

I do, with the advice of council, hereby certify that Francis Boyd aged about 22 years of age, late a private in the 7th Virginia Regiment whose pay was at the rate of 24 pounds per annum was disabled in the service of The United States by a wound in his left knee which ? the ? and deforming of the limb, and he is allowed the sum of ten pounds yearly; which allowance accordingly made him, to commence on the first day of January 1786.

Given under my hand as Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia , at Richmond is this 1st day of July 1788.

I certify that Francis Boyd was a soldier in my company at the Action at Brandywine at the year 1777 and was wounded and taken prisoner. I was captain in the 7th Virginia Regiment at that time. William Mo(n?)day. June 9 1789

Dr. Foushes will ? examine the wounds of the above person and report therein.
