Indonesia

Christopher or William Boyd

I don't know much at all about my ancestor Christopher Boyd (also known as Willam Boyd). He was sent to Singapore when he worked for the British East India company. I don't know when he was born or when he died. However, I know for sure that his homeland was in Ireland (in particular Enniskillen, Fermanagh). I guess my ancestors were not up to recording events well. Anyway, he and his wife Elizabeth Clarke were married in Singapore in 1876. They had 5 children. One of his sons, William, married a local lady in North Borneo and they had two sons. One of them, Walter Graham Boyd, was my grandfather and he lived in Borneo most of his life (Died: 1995). My grandfather married Florence Gertrude Cox in 1935 in North Borneo and they had 8 children including my mother Sybil Rofina Boyd.

It would be nice to be able to get in touch with distant relatives who are related in particular to Christopher Boyd. I am an Eurasian and I live and work in Singapore with my English husband and 4 children. My parents live in the UK.

This is all I have in information.

Subj:  Who can help me find the Boyd link to Indonesia?

This is short question with a long story.  My name is Geertje. My other names are Geertruida Maureen.  My maiden name is Strüwer. That's my father's name.  My mother's name is Georgine Boyd.  She's a daughter of Edwin Boyd who came from Indonesia. My mother told us children often about her English family in her youth.  In Jan of 1999 my father died and two months later my mother passed away.  Now I feel the need to search for the history of the Boyd's and their link to Indonesia.

A sister and a brother of my mother are still alive. Aunt Mary lives in Indonesia in Semarang and uncle Victor lives in California in the USA.

Is there at least someone who has the knowledge of a overseas history? For instance when did the Boyd's arrive in Indonesia? And to whom did they marry?

I'll be very pleased, if there' s anyone who can tell me this? And so are other relatives too in the Netherlands.

I' m looking forward with hope and thank God for the technical possibilities of the internet.
