Rathfriland, County Down, N. Ireland

Rathfriland is a rural town that sits on top of a hilltop in Co. Down between the Mourne Mountains and Slieve Croob, and is a very pleasant village. It has one church, one Presbyterian meeting-house, one of Seceders, one of Covenanter's, one of Quakers, and a congregation of Methodists. The town’s square is on top of the hill and an old market house erected circa 1764 sits at its centre. The clock faced war memorial above stands in the square. There are many old buildings in the square and surrounding area.
