Thomas Boyd / Annie Ross

South Africa

Subj:  South African Boyd Lineage

Hi All

My name is Clinton Shane Boyd, and I represent the 5th generation Boyd of my lineage in South Africa. The first Boyd to come to SA was a Thomas Boyd,
born 11th January 1860. He was married to Annie Ross, born 18th July 1864.
Thomas Boyd was a soldier in Princess Louise's Argyllshire Highlanders (91st
Regiment), and we suspect came to SA to fight in the Zulu War of 1879.
Thereafter he stayed in SA and his eldest son, Robert Malcolm Boyd, my great
grandfather, also appears to have been a military man. Unfortunately we have
no other information regarding Thomas Boyd, his father etc., and thus how
our family relates back to the other Boyd lineages.  We do have photographs
of Thomas Boyd and family with some of the chidren wearing navy hats
embroided with "H.M.S Brisk".

I would greatly appreciate any information. I suspect that the Argyllshire Highlander angle is the best to pursue.

Regards,

Clinton Shane Boyd   boyd_cs@hotmail.com
