Workhouses

I thought the following was a very interesting and informative web site. Many researchers will come upon references to the Workhouses but never know exactly what they were and where they were....this web site can explain the Workhouses....and much much more. There are also some Boyd listings (see below) but I hope you do check out and enjoy the web site....it is very interesting and educational :-)

The Workhouse
Workhouse is a word that often conjures up the harsh and squalid world of Oliver Twist. The workhouse could be a grim and brutal place, but its story is also a fascinating mix of social history, politics, economics and architecture http://www.workhouses.org.uk/
