John ~ Celia Boyd


           Albuquerque Journal - January 26, 2003

John Boyd, 79, a resident of Albuquerque passed away on January 23, 2003. Mr. Boyd is the beloved husband of 56 years to Mrs. Celia Boyd. Mr. Boyd is also survived by his loving children; one daughter, Louise Sutherland and husband, Kent; three sons, Lester Boyd and wife, Kathy, Leeland Boyd, David Boyd and wife, Ruth; six grandchildren, Alexis, John, Lynn, Barbara, Joseph (Joey) and Rachel; four great grandchildren, Justine, Reygan, Morgan and Nathaniel; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Mr. Boyd was preceded in death by his great-granddaughter, Ashley Garcia. Mr. Boyd was a member of the Catholic Church, a Veteran of the U. S. Army serving in World War II and owner of Laytons Appliance Service since 1978. A visitation will be Monday evening after 6:30p.m. at St. Therese Catholic Church, 300 Mildred NW with a Memorial Wake Service and a Rosary to be recited at 7:00p.m. by Deacon Manuel Montoya. A final visitation will be Tuesday morning at St. Therese Catholic Church from 9:00a.m. until 9:30a.m. with a Memorial Mass to be celebrated at 9:30a.m. by Father Palmo. Interment of the cremains will follow at the Santa Fe National Cemetery with a Committal Service and Military Honors at 12 noon. Honorary pallbearers will be John Trujillo and Joey Boyd.
