Mrs Emily Boyd

Quoted from Jamestown Daily Alert January 21, 1918

Death of Mrs. Emily Boyd: Here since 1882

The death of Mrs. Emily Boyd, a pioneer resident of Jamestown, occurred Saturday afternoon at 4:15 at the home of her son, C.H. Boyd, in the southeastern part of the city.  Mrs. Boyd had been ill for a week with neuralgia and with her advanced years was unable to survive the attack.  Her son, C.H. Boyd, is also quite ill.

Mrs. Boyd was born at Grand Rapids, Mich. 84 years ago, and with her family
came to Jamestown in 1882.  Mr. Boyd died 32 years ago, and one son, William, has also passed away.  She is survived by five sons and one daughter: C.H. and Fred Boyd of Jamestown, Frank Boyd of Rapid City, S. Dak. Doc Boyd of San Antonia, Texas, and C.W. of Spirit Lake, Ida., and Mrs. W.J. Birmingham, of Seattle.  The latter reached Jamestown Saturday morning in time to see her mother before she passed away.  Doc Boyd was unable to attend the funeral.

The funeral was held this afternoon at the Congregational chuch at 2 o'clock, Rev. C.H. Phillips, the pastor, officiating.  The pall bearers were W.E. Boise, R.G. McFarland, J.E. Salting, Mr. Martin, A.C. Walsh and W.P. Ringuette.  Burial was at Highland Home cemetery.

about thirty-six years.  He is survived by one sister and four brothers. Funeral arrangements have not yet been completed.

C.H. Boyd Funeral

The funeral services for Charles H. Boyd were held at the Congregational church Friday afternoon.  This is the second funeral in the same family this week, Mrs. Boyd, the mother, having been buried from the same church Monday. The only relatives present were Mr. Fred Boyd, whose home is here, and a sister, Mrs. Blanche Birminhame and daughter from Alberta, Canada.  The other members of the family were wired, but were unable to reach here.

The Yeoman fraternity were present in a body, and contributed a beautiful floral design.  The bearers were all Yeoman brothers, Messrs. Bosie, McFarland, Richter, Nowlin, Seekins and Hemmi.

Rev. C.H. Phillips gave the funeral address, and appropriate hymns were sung
by a choir consisting of Mrs. Crary, Miss Boise, Mr. Orchard and Mr. Charles
Kellar, with Miss Helen Phillips at the piano.  Interment was made at Highland Home.
