Bible record of Robert and Rosannah Stewart Boyd                     Newberry, South Carolina Boyds

I recently received from John and Donna Standerfer (of Oklahoma) a photocopy of a hand written Bible record giving the "Ages of the Boyd Family" and the names and birth dates for 12 Boyd children. The names of 9 of the children match those named in the will of Robert Boyd, who died in Meriwether County, GA in 1846-47. Three are not listed in the will. Robert was the husband of Rosannah Stewart and moved from Newberry to Meriwether County between 1830 (Newberry census) and 1833 (land purchase in GA)

The Bible page came from the Christenberry-Boyd-Blackburn family Bible, owned (in 1959) by Mrs. Sue Thomas of Greensboro, AL. The Bible was printed in 1850 and published by Merriam, Moore & Co., Troy, New York. Names and information from the record were used in the book, "Royal Ancestors of the Magna Carta Barons," written by Carr P. Collins, Jr., 1959. This book is online at http://royalancestorscollins.com/index.htm  At the time the book was written, the parents of these children were not known. Now we know their parents were Robert Boyd (from his will) and Rosannah Stewart (from her father's will in which Robert Boyd received Rosannah's share of the inheritance).

I don't know who has the Bible today.

For those of you who don't have the Bible record and who are descended from this family, I thought I would share. I have never seen a reference online to this record nor have I seen it published online anywhere. Here is proof and the source of your ancestors' birth dates. All children were probably born in Newberry as Robert and Rosannah appear there from 1790 through 1830.

At the left hand top of the photocopy it says, "Collins Family Records." On
the right hand top is "145." John said the original page has "certified copy"
stamped at the bottom but it faded out when he copied it. All I see is a little
semi-circular "county" at the bottom which appears to be a part of a seal of
some kind. Information from the Bible page says:

      "Ages of the Boyd family"

William Boyd was born June the 27 1789

Joseph Boyd was born June the 25 1791

Mary Boyd was born August the 24 1793

John Boyd was born Oct 11 AD 1795

Jennet Boyd was born Jany the 9 1799

Hugh Boyd was born Dec 16 AD 1797

James Boyd was born July the 4 1802

Robert Boyd was born Jany the 29 1805

Rosanah Boyd was born August the 14 1807

David Boyd was born August the 14 1810

Frances Boyd was born October 11 1812

Jefferson Boyd was born March 26 1814

My thanks to John and Donna for generously sharing this record. I had the
birth dates (given to me by another researcher) but no one seemed to know the source. This finally nailed it down for me. My ancestor is Hugh Boyd, b. 1797, who married Nancy Hopper. Hope this helps others.
