Elijah and Phebe Hays Boyd
I would like to compare notes with anyone who has researched the family of Elijah and Phebe O. (Hays) Boyd. I have searched all the usual Internet resources and requested a handful of books on inter-Library loan - I'm hoping someone in the ClanBoyd Mail List has some tidbit of additional information. From GEDCOMs at Rootsweb WorldConnect, I find that Elijah Boyd was the sixth child of John and Sarah (Griffith) Boyd of Berkeley County West Virginia. Elijah was born 5 April 1765 in Berkeley Co WV, died before 4 May 1803 in Washington Co KY. On 21 August 1789 he married Phebe Hays in Berkeley Co WV, she was born 1768 in Berkeley Co WV and died before 11 October 1802 in Washington Co KY. From this union were born four children: Abigail, William, Elisha, and John. I am most interested in their son Elisha, but any information on any of the siblings may be of help. I have recently discovered 99% conclusive evidence that my GGgrandfather John Seneca Boyd (on ClanBoyd, Taos Buchanon County Missouri, still working to achieve 100% certainty) is the fourth and last child of Elisha and Eliza (Routon) Boyd of Lincoln and Mercer Counties Kentucky, circa 1820s. On 30 April 1817, Elisha Boyd applied to marry Eliza Routon, with consent of her Mother Elizabeth Routon for her daughter, witnessed by James Withers and with a surety bond provided by the same James Withers, in Lincoln County Kentucky (neighbor of Washington County). I have successfully tracked this family to the town of Danville Mercer Co KY (adjacent to Washington Co KY), back to Lincoln Co KY, and forward to the present day. Finding Seneca's parents and siblings has been a major hard-fought battle, and finding this family in such close proximity at just the right time is too tantalizing for words but is not proof-positive for me. Any random bit of data on any of these people would be wonderful. No piece of info is insignificant to my research. Thanks in advance. Mel Van Vickle vanvickle at mindspring.com
