BOYD, Robert W.     GA     -----------
1st Confederate Infantry Company - 2NDF

BOYD, Robert W.     Company F, First Regiment,Georgia State Line,
Bartow County, "Georgia Blues" . Robert Watson Boyd enlisted in 1862 in Covington, Newton County, Georgia. The exact date and place of interment are not known.  Both the Confederate and Federal fail to give a record of Robert Watson Boyd, but the Federal records do shown a R. W. Boyd two muster rolls, of the Confederate Army, both serving in the defense of the Arsenal at Columbus, Georgia.  This R.W. Boyd appeared both times as private in Company C, 1st Batallion Infantry, Georgia State Guards, formerly known as Company C, Ordinance Battalion, GA, CSA.  One muster roll was that Maj. F. G. Wilkins, dated 29 August 1864 and the Capt. J. M. Welch's Co. C, Lt. Col. J.B. Oliveros commanding for the defense of the city of Columbus, GA. In the latter he appears to have enlisted August 4, 1863, to serve six months of the war.  The records are admittedly incomplete. Our family records simply say he died in the war.
