 From: BSA T28@Aol.com                                                Jan/1997
Christopher Anwyl Boyd

Updates for the book "The Boyd Family" by Arthur S. Boyd Jr., 1924.

Grace Boyd's married name is Mrs. Charles H. Boyd #214?, formerly of
West Somerville, Mass., before they died. I do not know their
daughter's name(s).

In corrections of the book, number 331 on page 41 should be Fred
Wellesman, son of Mary (Gerow) Wellesman. I know he married in January
____, and has a son. He was an art teacher in Massachusetts, and sold
his paintings in the summer in Georgetown, Maine.

122. Helen Inez Boyd died 4/30/61.

212. Laura Maye Boyd retired in Georgetown Maine, where she lived with
her cousin, Dorothy Stuart #217. She died in 1983 at the age of 101?
No children.

213. Frank James Boyd, my grandfather, died 11/17/56 and is buried in
Hillsboro, NH. He was a baptist minister.

216. the one child (330) was an adopted daughter. Rolande Murray
Stuart died in 1977 in Cincinnatti, Ohio.

217. Dorothy Wilma Stuart moved to Georgetown Maine with mother Emma,
and bought a house there. She was a bookkeeper and postmistress for
Sheepscote Bay Co., MacMahan Island. No children.

218. James Boyd Stuart married Kaye _________ in New Jersey. No
children. She had some from a previous marriage. I think it was her
son that died in Viet Nam. Lived in Robinhood, Maine after retiring
from DuPont Co. Died 1979, buried in Georget
own, Maine.

223. Married J. Fred Wellesman.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Will fill in with father James Franklin Boyd son of Frank James Boyd
(213) on October 20, 1929. Robert Lee Boyd born 1931? Mother died
during the delivery. Additional notes and updates will be taken from
family bible. But, Robert married twice. He adopted one son from his
first marriage, and a son (Christopher) and daughter from his second
marriage.

James Franklin Boyd married Rachel Mary (Williams). Died May 5, 1995.
Buried in Hillsboro, NH. Worked as computer operator on one of the
first 10 Univac computers. Retired from Cherry, Webb, and Touraine
after managing the computer departments for several small companies.

Christopher Anwyl Boyd, son of James Franklin Boyd, born 3/21/66 in
Boston, Mass. Rhode Island Duckpin bowling champion 1978. Eagle
Scout. Involved in Boy Scouts over 25 years, over 11 years as
ScoutMaster Troop 28 Meriden, CT. Married Heidi Marie Olschefski
4/6/91. Son Christopher Andrew Boyd born 7/9/94. Son Denver James
Boyd born 2/16/98. Palm reader told me in 1984 I would have two boys
and a girl...Let's see if I have a daughter...My wife says no more.

Notes as told to me by Laura Maye Boyd (212) while I was going for
Geneology Merit Badge for the Boy Scouts:

10 generations ago, three brothers sailed to America to seek their
fortune. They were James, William, and John Boyd. James, and his kid
brother John, landed in Boston around 1720, and settled in the town of
York, in what is now the State of Maine.

Their father was Captain James Boyd, who went to Ireland in 1696, from
Scotland. Many of his cousins and uncles and aunts already lived in
Northern Ireland, as King James Stuart had given them estates there.
Captain James Boyd's father was William, 9th Lord Boyd, who inherited
the Barony of Kilmarnock on 2/28/1655. He became 1st Earl of Kilmarnock
on 8/17/1661, chartered by King Charles II. He married Lady Jean
Cunninghame, who's father was 9th Earl of Glencairn in Scotland.

William's father was James, 8th Lord Boyd, who was the second son of
Robert, Master of Boyd. James (8th Lord) lived in Dean Castle part of
his life, and had the Boyd Arms sculptured on the castle. Robert,
Master of boyd, who was the son of Thomas Boyd (5th Lord), whose wife
Margaret was related to King James IV. Thomas Boyd was in Queen Mary
of Scotland's army in 1568.

Hmmmm. At this point the notes were supposed to travel forward about
the members in America, but those pages aren't here with the book.
Hopefully I will find them either in the family bible or in my old Boy
Scout notes.

Thanks

Christopher A. Boyd

Thank you for your prompt answer. We are in the process of changing from our Florida home to our summer home in Maine. I will get back to you as soon as we are settled back in Maine. I am very interested in your book.

I presume you have a copy of "The Boyd Family" by Arthur S. Boyd, Jr., published by Leland E. Dorothy, New York 1924. In that book, Charles H. Boyd #66 is my gg-grandfather. His son Wilbur #161 is my grandfather. His daughter Inza #309 is my mother.

That book states that Reuben Ricker, father of Ruth Ricker who married James Boyd #5, served on the "Bonne Homme Richard" with John Paul Jones. I have since learned that Reuben served on the "Ranger" with John Paul Jones, not the "Bonne Homme Richard"

#309 Inza Boyd (my mother) died 31 Mar 1992 in Dade City, Pasco, Florida. She is buried in Oak Grove Cemetery, Searsmont, Waldo, Maine. Harold Burgess, son of Joseph S. Jr. and Mattie Luella (Maxwell) Burgess (my father) died 15 Mar 1984 in South Hiram, Oxford, Maine and is buried in Oak Grove Cemetery, Searsmont, Waldo, Maine.

#310 Verna Boyd died 4 Jun 2000 in Port Orange, Volusia, Florida and is buried in Grove Cemetery, Belfast, Waldo, Maine. Dean W. Knowlton, son of Warren Grace (Hammons) Knowlton, died 21 Sep 1987 in Daytona Beach, Volusia, Florida and is buried in Grove Cemetery, Belfast, Waldo, Maine.

#161 Wilbur Leonard Boyd, son of Charles and Lizzie Ellen (Damon) Boyd died 15 Oct 1950 in Belfast, Waldo, Maine and is buried in Grove Cemetery in Belfast. Helen Florence (Nellie) Webber, dau of James Horace and Eliza Arvesta (Newcomb) Webber died 3 Mar 1942 in Belfast, Waldo, Maine and is buried in Grove Cemetery, Belfast.

#162 Leland Gilman Boyd died 2 Feb 1961 in North Monroe, Waldo, Maine and is buried in the North Monroe Cemetery. Julia (Morton) Boyd died 7 Sep 1961 in North Monroe, Waldo, Maine and is buried in the North Monroe Cemetery.

#163 Eva St. Clair Boyd died 3 June 1903. This is a correction to the date in Arthur Boyd’s genealogy of the Boyd family.

#66 Charles H. Boyd…his information is correct. Lizzie Ellen Damon Boyd, dau of Frederick Augustus and Charity (Farrow) Damon, died 3 May 1940 in Monroe, Waldo, Maine. She is buried in the North Monroe Cemetery.

#22 Leonard Boyd….the record of his marriage and marriage intentions in “Vital Records of Monroe, Maine” transcribed by Elizabeth Mosher and published by Picton Press both show his name as James Leonard Boyd. I always heard him referred to as Leonard but James Leonard sounds logical.
