Articles: The Cecil Whig, Elkton, Cecil Co., MD The Cecil Whig Saturday, April 16, 1881 DEATH: In Elkton, on Friday morning, April 15th, Sophia BOYD, relict (widow) of the late Joseph BOYD, in the 51st year of her age. Interment at Cherry Hill cemetery on Sunday afternoon. ----------------- The Cecil Whig Saturday, February 4, 1882 MARRIED. By Rev. N. M. Browne, on January 26th, Henry P. BOYD and Belle WHITELOCK, both of Port Deposit.---------------- The Cecil Whig Saturday, March 31, 1883 DEATH: Mr. Wm. BOYD, a gentleman well known in the Fifth and Seventh districts, died at the home of his mother near Battle Swamp, on Wednesday of last week. Deceased was about forty years of age, and unmarried. He was a brother to F. J. BOYD, for a number of years proprietor of the Battle Swamp Hotel. His funeral took place on Friday. -------------- The Cecil Whig Saturday, May 24, 1884 Perryville DEATH: We have now to mention the death on Sunday the 18th inst., about four o'clock p. m., of little Rebecca May, one of the twins of Thomas and Henrietta BOYD, aged about seven months. She was a sweet little girl and we are sure that she is now a little angel safe home in heaven. The parents and little brothers and sisters have the sympathy of all their friends. Death was caused by measles. --------------- The Cecil Whig Saturday, October 17, 1885 DEATH: The remains of Samuel BOYD, for many years a supervisor on the P.W. & B. railroad, were taken to Charlestown, Md., on Thursday morning for burial. The funeral was largely attended, the relatives and friends for the deceased filling three cars attached to the mail train which left Wilmington at 10:06 o'clock. At Charlestown funeral services were conducted in the M. E. church by Rev. C. W. Prettyman, of Wilmington. The interment was made in the M. E. cemetery. -------------- The Cecil Whig Saturday, March 31, 1888 DEATH: John M. BOYD, familiarly addressed as Dr. BOYD from his business of veterinary surgeon, died on Sunday morning last in Smyrna, Del., from Bright's disease of the kidneys, aged about fifty years. He formerly resided in Cecil county and was a native of St. George's Hundred, New Castle county. He leaves a wife and son. -------------- The Cecil Whig Saturday, January 19, 1889 Port Deposit DEATH: Henry P. and Maggie BOYD lost an interesting son, Harry Conway BOYD, Sunday afternoon, aged three and a half years. Harry was playing at the head of the stairs Wednesday afternoon and some how fell down them, but did not complain much except that his knee hurt him. Friday afternoon he got worse and his mother sent for Dr. McCullough but all remedies failed and he died as stated above. His father is employed at Norfolk, Va., but got home two hours before he died. His funeral was held Wednesday and in charge of Rev. James Conway assisted by Rev. J. P. Otis. ------------- The Cecil Whig Saturday, April 5, 1890 MARRIED. At St. Mary's Rectory, North East, Md., on Wednesday, March 26th 1890, by Rev. E. K. Miller, Wm. B. BRADFIELD and Miss Ideania BOYD. ------------- The Cecil Whig Saturday, May 17, 1890 DEATH: Hugh F. BOYD died in Baltimore on Thursday, aged 90 years. He was a native of Port Deposit and for a number of years held the office of Inspector of Shingles in Baltimore. ------------- The Cecil Whig Saturday, August 23, 1890 DEATH: William BOYD, a former citizen of this county, died in Chester, Pa., on Wednesday. Mr. BOYD was about fifty years old and married a daughter of Mr. S. Grant at Charlestown, in this county. He was an iron worker by trade having worked at the Westamwell works many years. His funeral takes place today at Charlestown at about 11 o'clock. ------------- The Cecil Whig Saturday, September 13, 1890 DEATH: Mrs. J. Hatch, aged 85 years, and widow of Seaver Hatch and daughter of the late Francis and Jane Steele BOYD, of Cecil county, died in Baltimore, last Sunday. ------------- The Cecil Whig Saturday, January 24, 1891 The Samuel B. McCullough farm, in the eighth district of this county, near Colora, now occupied by J. Simmers, was sold on Tuesday at mortgagee's sale, by Shockley & Smith, auctioneers for Wm. J. Jones, attorney. It was purchased by Sheriff J. A. BOYD for $3,325. ------------- The Cecil Whig Saturday, February 7, 1891 MARRIED. At Perryville, January 23, by Rev. E. H. Hynson, William Henry BOYD and Miss Fannie B. HACKNEY, of this county.
