My great-grandfather was  James Robert BOYD, b. April 1831 in MS, married to Mary Ann JOHNSTON,  b. in AL in April 1838.  In the 1880 census, they appear in Eastland Co., TX, Dist. 8, and are living next door to their oldest son, William T. Boyd, age 22, born in MS, and his wife Sallie A. Boyd, age 18, born in TX.   

Next to Wm. T. Boyd, is the family of William L. Boyd, age 52, b. in MS, with his wife Polly, age 51, b. AL.  This Wm. L. is the brother of James R. Boyd, plus he is the father of Sallie A. Boyd, wife of Wm. T. 

Another neighbor is Wm. W. MURRAY, age 28, b. in MS, and his wife, Susan A. (Alice) MURRAY, age 15, born in MS.  Susan was the daughter of James R. & Mary Ann BOYD. 

I am trying to pin down where exactly in MS these families were from.  There are so many Boyds in MS, I am ready to pull my hair out trying to find mine in the census records. 

Children of James Robert Boyd and Mary Ann Johnston were: 

1.  William Thomas Boyd, b. April 2, 1858 MS; d. Dec 30, 1941.  Married (1)  Sallie A. Boyd; (2) S.A. MALEAN [?] on July 4, 1888 in TX. 

2.  Sara Jane Boyd, b. April 12, 1862 in MS; d. May 1922 in CA.  Married to William Green WEAR on Oct. 30, 1887. 

3.   Susan "Alice" Boyd, b. Dec 22, 1864 in MS; d. Jul 1, 1938.  Married to William W. MURRAY on Jan 25, 1880 in Eastland, TX. 

4.  Mary Eliza "Lizer" Boyd, b. Mar 3, 1867 in MS; d. July 31, 1873 in MS. 

5.  Nancy Safrony Boyd, b. July 4, 1870 in TX; d. Oct 1, 1880 in Eastland, TX. 

6.  Annie Boyd*, b. July 13, 1875 in Bend, San Saba Co., TX; d. Jan 20, 1955 in El Paso, TX at the home of her daughter Ann HANSON-HARDEN; buried in Water Valley, Tom Green Co., TX.  Married to Labe Bates HANSON, b. April 16, 1872 in Water Valley, Yalobusha Co., MS; d. Feb 11, 1936 in Water Valley, Tom Green Co., TX. 

*These are my grandparents; my great-grandfather, Judge James Oliver (J.O.) Hanson named the town of Water Valley, TX after the town of Water Valley in MS. 

7.  Minerva "Minnie" Boyd, b. Mar 9, 1879 in Eastland Co., TX; d. Nov 27, 1967 in Midwest City, OK.  Married to Alvin Devalequet JAMESON on Jun 9, 1896 in Coke Co., TX. 

My information on the family comes from the family bible and other records.  I hope someone will recognize this information and be able to tell me where in MS the families came from.
