NEW YORK HISTORY John Boyd White Plains, New York Samuel, son of Thomas Merritt, was called of Rye in 1706, and in 1710 he was living at White Plains, New York. He also lived at Port Chester, New York, on the site now occupied by the Union free school. On November 27, 1713, he bought land from JOHN BOYD, at White Plains, and also purchased other land there of Thomas Budd on January 18, 1723. He granted a lot to Humphrey Underhill, who released his claim, May 28, 1722. He married Elizabeth, daughter of Humphrey and Sarah Underhill. Children: William, George, David. John Boyd of Mexico, NY Mexico Independent, (NY), March 22, 1886 Texas - On Thursday of last week, Keeper Chapman of the life saving station selected his crew for the coming season, which is expected to open April 1st. The members of the crew are Alonzo Morton, Perry Marsh, William Henderson, Don Calkins, Herbert Dennis of Texas, John Boyd of Mexico and Emery Tryan of Ellisburg. H. L. Dennis will be No. 1 or first mate, and Don Calkins the steward. The crew consists of the same men that were under Capt. Parker last season except Mr. Tryan takes the place of George Cole. Mr. Cole had the place offered him but declined the offer, thinking he could do better. NEWBURGH and NEW WINDSOR 1782-1783 -- General Washington resides at Hasbrouck House. out and altering the roads in the Precinct of New Windsor and Newbourgh
in Ulster County and State aforesaid by the election of a number of the
most respectable freeholders and inhabitants of the two Precincts before
mentioned, agreeable to law and the aforesaid petition viz: have laid
out a public open road or highway, three rods wide being chosen by the
people of the two Precincts as Commission- ers for that purpose. Where
road so laid out is butted and bounded as follows , viz: beginning on
the main road that runs from Newbourgh to New Windsor south of Major
Boyds house on his southbounds and the north bounds of the farm Precinct Records Minute
