During the year 1811, however, the intrigues of British agents operating on the passions of the Indians, brought affairs to a crisis, which tendered hostilities unavoidable. Harrison called upon Colonel Boyd, of the 4th United States regiment, then at Pittsburg, who immediately joined him, and embodied militia force as strong as the emergency would permit.
