Aaron Boyd ~ Martha Plotts

Beaver County, Pennsylvania

 



Aaron Boyd, farmer, P.O. Harshaville, was born July 1, 1823, on the farm where he was reared and educated and where he now resides, containing 340 acres. His grandfather, John Boyd, who was of Irish descent, settled near Frankfort, in Hanover township, Beaver county, and died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Sallie Boyd Moore. He was a farmer, and had a large family. His son, John Boyd, was born July 20, 1782, and died April 2, 1870, at the home of his son, Aaron Boyd. He was married, in October, 1807, to Agnes Moore, daughter of Thomas Moore, who came here when the Indians were still in the county, and a blockhouse stood near where Mrs. Eliza Moore now resides. Mrs. Boyd was born Dec. 15, 1789, and died Aug. 13, 1869. She 
was the mother of twelve children: Margaret Boyd, Martha Boyd, Mary Boyd, Thomas Boyd, Sarah Boyd, Eliza Boyd, Samuel Boyd, Aaron Boyd, Eleanor Boyd, Agnes Boyd, John Boyd and Esther Boyd. Aaron married, Feb 2, 1871, Martha Plotts, daughter of James Plotts, a bugler, who was killed in the Civil War. Seven children have been born to Mr. and Mrs. Boyd: Harvey Boyd, Ava Boyd, James Boyd Robert A. Boyd (died at the age of seven years), Hally Boyd, Mitchell Boyd and Maud Boyd. Mr. Boyd is a thorough-going businessman; in politics a Democrat.
