Halbert Patrick Boyd

William J. and Alice E. Boyd

Halbert Patrick Boyd was born 20 April 1889 some where in WI. His sister Euphemia aka Effie aka Peggy Maud Boyd was born 2 December1887 in Wisconsin. His brother William Henry Boyd born 7 January 1885 and another brother, Samuel Warren Boyd was b: 19 July 1883 in Sparta, WI.

Euphemia aka Effie was first found in a 1900 census in  Wisconsin living in the Jenkins home as a ward of the court. Then in the Wisconsin state census 1905 she was living in the Watie household, again as a ward. She attended the University of WI and graduated an R.N. In 1910 she moved to and is living in Williston, ND. Working as a R.N. She married Howard Earl Evans there March 22, 1911.

My Grandparents Halbert Patrick Boyd and Anna F. Allen marry in Williston on March 21, 1912. They have the following children: Harry Boyd, Alice E Boyd, Bessie M Boyd.

Effie (Boyd) & Howard Evans have five children: Veronica Evans, Joseph Dean Evans, John Louis Evans, Howard Robert Evans, and Halbert William Evans.

Samuel Warren Boyd m (1) Ethel Elizabeth (Lizzie) Henley. They have 2 children: Floyd H. Boyd and Hazel Irene Boyd

Samuel married 2nd Nellie (Hanson) Kesley. No children.

We cannot locate Samuel in 1900 & 1910 census. Nor Halbert in the 1900 census. Note that in all censuses Effie is in (except in 1900 which is correct). She states she is born in CA (wrong, she was born in WI per 1900 census). She further states: father born: Scotland. Mother: Spain.

Samuel states in each census: Father born: Scotland: Mother: Spain, except in the 1930 he changes it. States, Father: Free State of Ireland, Mother: Nebraska. I have checked with the WI archives on line, there is no birth cert. for Samuel, but he was issued a SSA card.  I have just sent off for his death cert. I have all dates, but to shorten this, left them out. I hope that this helps someone out there. As Effie's only grandson who is trying to help me piece this all together knows nothing much.

He said his grandmother hid everything about her childhood. Something happened that she hid from her family all her life. He wants to know as much as I do, what happened, and who are our grgrandparents.  Halbert P. Boyd served in WWI in Siberia and was part of the "Doughboys" and was the first US Veteran to receive a pacemaker.
