William I. Boyd
1909-2002
William Irvine "Bill" Boyd, 93, of Wheatland died on Nov. 16, 2002, at the Platte County Memorial
Nursing Home in Wheatland.
He was born on Aug. 9, 1909, in Wheatland to Adam and Margaret (Irvine) Boyd.
He was raised on the family ranch in Albany County, attended country school, graduated from
Wheatland High school and returned to the ranch where he worked with his father and brother.
He married Ruth Lunde in Parshall, N.D., on Sept. 27, 1940. They later divorced. He later married
Irene Edens.
He was a member of Masonic Lodge #16 AF & AM and the Shriners.
He is survived by a daughter, Virginia Anderson of Wheatland; a son, Kenneth Boyd of
Marengo, Ill., two stepdaughters, Pat Wilson of Wheatland and Sharon Pickering of Great Falls, Mont.; five
grandchildren; two step-granddaughters, and 14 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Nora Boyd; a brother, Frank Boyd; and his
second wife.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the United Methodist Church in Wheatland, with
the Rev. Joel Dingman officiating.
Internment will be held privately at a later date.
Friends may contribute to Shriners Hospitals for Children, Fairfax Road at Virginia Street,
Salt Lake City, Utah, 84103.
Platte Funeral Chapel of Wheatland is in charge of the arrangements.
